My hair is super thick and it has waves in the back layer? HELP!?

My hair is shoulder-length and to me it is just ugly! It's very thick and it has waves all in the back. My mom keeps telling me that I should be grateful to have it, why? I try straightening and it doesnt stay straight. It has just starting getting really frizzy and poffy all over. I am 14 and im going to be going back to high school as a 10th grader. I really want straight and silky hair that is just gorgeous! We tried the Vo5 hot oil treatment yesterday and it looks the same. Also, i bought the garnier fructisse leave in conditioner and it doesnt help. I am like going crazy here. Also, I straighten my hair, but my straightner is a piece of crap. But, we don't have the money to buy a $150 straightner and everytime I ask to get my hair thinned my mom says that it is just going to make it thicker. So does anyone have any ideas or anything to help me? Please!

I had the exact same problem as a teenager. It eventually thinned out. Your crappy hair straightener should work. If not get an inexpensive one from Target or Wal-Mart. You would just have to do small layers at a time %26amp; maybe with a heat protector. Do you wash your hair daily? If so, maybe you shouldnt. I realized that washing my hair daily was causing it to dry out alot %26amp; get frizzy. Getting your hair thinned out would be a great idea. I've done it myself %26amp; for my lil sister who has enough hair for 5 people! It does work but only if you keep doing it. It shouldnt make your hair thicker, that may be an old wives tale. I also use a shine spray like loreal to give it that shine. I hope this helps. People seem to want think hair alot, but for people with it, it can be an inconvience! try some shine serum.. it's about 7$ but it's worth it. you can get it at a drug store. when you straighten your hair put gel in it while it's wet so when you straighten it it will hold.

P.S. thinning does not make it thicker, that's why it's called thinning

WELL WHEN YOU GET YOUR HAIR CUT TELL THEM TO THIN IT OUT WITH A RAZOR AS SCAREY AS IT SOUNDS IT WORK AND WHEN YOU STRAIGHTEN IT THEY HAVE STUFF AT WALLMART ITS LIKE OIL OR SERUM THAT YOU CAN PUT IT IN YOUR HAIR NOT ALOT OR YOU WILL MAKE YOUR HAIR GREASY LOOKIN AND YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY 150$ FOR A STRAIGHTENER YOU CAN GET ONE AT WALMART FOR CHEAP OR A SALLYS JUST MAKE SURE ITS A CERAMIC OR IT WILL BE CRAP AND I SUGGEST USING THERMASILK SHAMPOO AND CONDITIONER IT WILL HELP ALOT AND DEFIENTLY KEEP THE LEAVE IN CONDITION IT MIGHT NOT SEEM LIKE IT IS WORKING BUT IT REALLY IS JUST SPRAY IT IN YOUR HAIR WHEN YOU GET OUT OF THE SHOWER IT WILL MAKE IT IMPROVE IN TIME AND ALSO WHEN YOU GET OUT OF THE SHOWER BRUSH YOUR HAIR WITH A COMB NOT A BRUSH

Mine won't straighten either, but i use Vo5 silky and when it's done i tie it into a really tight ponytail. It's still wavy but it feels soooo much less thick. and it's really soft!!
