She has been wearing her hair back in a ponytail for the past week so nobody would know. I dont know what to do other than shave her head %26amp; i dont want to have to do that. I have tryed to work from the ends to try %26amp; loosen it up, but it is too bad...HELP PLEASE%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;%26gt;

try hair conditioner first, try hot oil treatment, go to sallys and get cholesterol its real thick and slimy it should work. Just rub it in and work with the matt to loosen it.

Go to a salon

or you can get her to wash it out and then go from there, after she washes her hair is should be easy to deal with because it is wet. Then part her hair in four parts, if her hair is thick then it will hurt a little, its only four parts, then braid it. After you braid the four parts then take out one of the braids then comb it out. After you got all four parts combed out then take her to get her hair braided, or you braid her hair. I'm 12 too by the way

Take her to a salon and have them shampoo and condition it. Be prepared for a LONG appointment and tip the hairdresser well for taking the time to be gentle.

you need to go to a salon

Help my daughter hair please..%26gt;!!!!!?

They have some detangleing spray at the beauty suppy store for little girl's hair, Give that a try.

Help my daughter hair please..%26gt;!!!!!?

as someone already said, take her to a salon, they will untangle it for you. if you dont mind me asking, how did she get matts in her hair??

Help my daughter hair please..%26gt;!!!!!?

Paul Mitchell Detangling condtioner or his leave in Dentangler will work you can buy it at sally's beauty supply store they also have a "genric form" that works just as good

Johnson and johnsons has a new shampoo out that is working great on my daughters hair it has Dentangler in it also if you can't find any of these go to the dollar store and buy Kids Dentangler Spray and soak her hair in it and start at the bottom, and just keep brushing out all tangles/ matts, while working ur way upwards untill its all gone

only way to do it is sit and comb/ brush them out

and make sure she combs/ brushes her hair properly every day so you don't have to deal with it again - my daughters a great one for only brushing the top layer then when i go to do it the under layers are knotted, tangled and matted up bad

Use a good heavy conditioner. Maybe even one of the packets that they sell at a beauty supply store (the ones used after hair color treatment). They usually cost under $2

Put that in and let it sit for a few and then while the conditioner is still in the hair try and work threw the matted hair. Good luck

Try some olive oil or Mayo and a wide tooth comb - it won't damage the hair.

Otherwise, if it is that serious, it sounds like you will have to take her to get a hair cut.

Help my daughter hair please..%26gt;!!!!!?

you can take her to a salon or get a big comb and do little by little start from bottom and go up to the top!!

Help my daughter hair please..%26gt;!!!!!?

DO NOT SHAVE HER HEAD!!!!!buy some really strong detangling spray wash her hair with some conditioner [strong]and spray her with the detangling spray [lots] then part it into like 4 parts and work on it ...itll be worth it ...

Oh wow, whatever you do, DON'T try to shampoo it because shampooing tangled hair is only going to make it worse!!! I say just work on trying to loosen up the tangles. Get a wide vent comb/brush and gently comb out her tangles. I know she's young, so the pain of pulled hair when combing is going to drive her insane, but its only for the better so that her hair can go back to it's normal state. I would suggest taking your time, make it an all day thing to fix her hair. It is possible! Trust me, majority black people get tangles in their hair always and we just try to do our best by combing out all the tangles as much as we could by hand because if not, it'll just get worse when the hair is wet or we'll have to cut! So I suggest you get a good wide vent brush...

I have read the other comments and I'm the only one who disagrees. I have heard that getting the hair wet is the worst thing you can do. It just matts the hair even more. Try combing it out very slowly. My best advice is to at least call a salon and ask them. They would be the ones to ask. Good luck and please don't shave her head.

Okay mom, breathe deeply for me for a minute or sixty okay? Now, she's had these tangles/matts for about a week, right? Well the first thing you should do is find out if there is ANY kind of foreign substance IN the matts/tangles themselves first off. If there is something there, find out what. You're going to need to then use a hair care product that will soften her hair whilst adding strength to it. There are about a dozen different ones out there to choose from by the way. From the sounds of it all though, I would suspect some door knob of a prankster put a glue of some kind into her hair. Find out what kind BEFORE you go any further. Most Elmer's glues will come out in fairly warm water after a good soaking. There are two different Elmer's that are for wood working that won't because they're water-proof. If it's "super" glue, a good hobby shop will have a product to dissolve and loosen up the stuff. It's called cyanocryilicat(I may have the spelling wrong, sorry) remover and is used on most things like wood, plastic and some fabrics too. When you get the stuff out, you'll need to give her hair some serious T.L.C. and hot oil treatments to help it. If that doesn't work, well as depressing as it will be, hair DOES grow back if you have to shave it all off of her.

Jennifer First know that some twelve year olds need training on how to keep the hair from knotting up you MUST start at the ends, and work up to the roots, otherwise, you are taking one knot and pushing it to

the next one, and making it worse. you don't have to shave it, cut the hair about six inches long using a creme rinse

or a lemon in a Glass of warm water will help, and please remember start at the ends and work your way up.teach her what you learn,so it doesn't knot up again.after the knots are out you will have to go over the cut again,as the knots come out the hair will have some long ends,so re-cut it ...good luck

good luck and have patience

I don't understand how this would happen overnight, but what you need to do is wet the hair and heavily condition it. Then, get a spray bottle and use a one to one ratio of fabric softener and water. You will also need a wide tooth comb and a small toothed comb. Start by working at the ends of her hair with the wide tooth comb, and carefully comb out. Spray the fabric softener/water whenever and where ever it is hard to comb out. Once you have reached the top of her head with the wide tooth comb, go back and comb through again with a small toothed comb. You can do this, but it will be very tedious and time comsuming!

wet her hair and don't shampooh it, go to the store and get a Deep Conditioner try sallys or a beauty supply store leave it on for hald hour on her wet hair then wash it out in cold water. Then spray a detangler or a leave in conditioner on her hair and start in sections working from the bottom up. No need to shave her head this should work. Worth a try...
