I keep losing hair when i brush my hair and when i shower. why do you think?

I am only 13 years old.

It sometimes comes out even when i am just doing normal activities and not touching my hair.

i am bad about washing my hair. would that matter?

about 10 pieces come out at a time and all the time.

I think nutrition might have something to do with it. You might want to talk to a doctor or nutritionist.

On the other hand, I used to lose a lot of hair too, even when I was young. When I quit using the cheaper shampoos and started using the good stuff (Paul Mitchell in my case), I stopped losing so much hair. Almost immediately! Even now, if I use a cheaper shampoo / conditioner I lose more hair and when I use a high quality product, I lose less hair.

Also look into the kind of water you shower. "hard water" is harsh on hair and skin. "soft water" like with a filter is better. Nutrition is very important. Eating healthy makes your hair stronger and grows faster too. Report It

first off make sure that you are taking a daily vitamin, that you are not iron defficient, that is important. Also I have no idea what your heigh and weight is but if you are malnourished or too skinny your hair can fall out.

this is perfectly healthy!!

When we lose hair, new hair grows back in it's place!!

If you don't wash your hair then your hair isn't really healthy, and it may also be another big factor in why you're losing so much hair

It is natural for your hair to fall out if you do feel like it is a large amount of hair you might want to tell your mom or the next time you visit your doctor tell him/her about it....... I'm pretty sure it is not a big issue but do tell your parent

Hair falls out all the time, that's normal and you are always growing new hair. Don't worry too much about it.

this could be several things :

the result of stress

of hormone changes

some illnesses

and some really unlikely things like exposure to ionizing radiation.

you need to see a doc, preferably a dermatologist.

Oh, yes, sometimes people lose hair for about 3 months, and then it stops.

Keeping your scalp clean is crucial to healthy growth

While you are conditioning your hair massage your scalp to stimulate the blood vessels in your scalp. This keeps the hair root healthy...

Get a nice girlie shampoo and conditioner like Herbal essenses and treat yourself to a nice hair wash each day. Sometimes heat and dandruff or oils make our hair root cloggy and unhealthy and will cause our hair to fall. We DO naturally loose some each day..but what you are describing sounds a little OFF.

Lets keep that hair on your head:)

all the best

I am 13 too. The same thing happens to me too. My parents say that it is coming out because it is coming out to make room for more hair. You may have a vitamin deficiency. Start reading Herbal Remedy books. They are very useful for stuff like this. When you wash your hair, do not wash roughly. Wash everyday to every other day. Try using hair silicone. It helps to keep your hair moisturized.
