Any suggestions on untangling REALLY tangled hair?

My daughter twisted small pieces of her hair until it kinked up really small to her head. It looked really neat- UNTIL...she tried to take it out. It's bedtime, and we are still working on it. I am just working wih my hands, no way a brush would do at all.

LOL- she said she made it like a "florist" It did look like flowers...she is 10.

I have thick curly hair, so anytime i go in the wind or rain it gets the way you described it. what i do is use A LOT, and i do mean ALOT of conditioner. wash it out with regular conditioner once or twice, usuing a comb to get it as untangled as possible while you rinse it. then when youve done all you can in the bath, take leave in conditioner, spray bottle kind, and just keep using it for as long as it takes. with my hair it can take over 2 hours. and i do end up pulling quite a bit out (but theres a lot of hair, so you cant really tell, it just hurts) but theres no getting around it really. it just takes a lot of work and time. but you can do pretty well with lots and lots and LOTS of conditioner. just be patient

I have heard if you take a dryer sheet and run it over the tangled hair that it will break up the knots and make it smell good in the process! Hope it works and let us know please!

Johnson and Johnson has this new conditioner out in a yellow tube called something like "Buddy Conditioner". I have had the same problem with daughter's hair for a while now, and I've found that this new conditioner works the best! Leave it in her hair for about 10 (let her play in bath while waiting) before you rinse it out. It works on even the toughest tangles. You can also spray some detangler in after that but you really don't need it after using the conditioner. Good Luck.

try buying some HERBAL ESSENCES hair detangler and spray it all around her hair then comb it out very gently

I am only a year older than her and I have had it happen to me more than 5 times. My mom finds the center of the knot and cuts it. After brushing it, my hair looks fine. (Repeat it until the knot is out)

Pantene dangler works for me and my sister uses it too, we both have incredibly thick hair and mine is naturally curly. It gets the knots out so much easier! If that doesn't help, try putting conditioner on her dry hair and letting it sit for a bit before trying to pick through it. Also try using a comb instead of a brush and starting at the bottom then going up. If you start from the top it just pushes the knots farther down. Good luck!

put her in the bathtub full of warm water - enough to lay back and put her entire head back into it and soak it out. she might have to lift her neck backward if it is in the forhead area.
