so if DNA is found in hair, then if you accidentally eat a piece of hair or dog fur, etc would that mean you have their DNA inside you?? would that affect you at all or would it just go straight through you?

i know...really really stupid question, but just wondering!!

Think of it this way: you have the same DNA that you had when you were born, and you will have the same DNA when you die. Imagine all of the things you have eaten over the years.......hot dogs, hamburgers, milk, etc......these things do not become part of your genetic makeup. No worries!!

Well, it'd just go through your digestive system, it's not like the hair would become part of your own genes or anything. Although technically, you would have somebody else's genes inside you, but only because it would be in your stomach.

I read of a woman a couple months ago that ate her own hair over a period of years and they had to remove a huge hairball from her stomach.

Granted it was her own hair, but even if it was someone else's hair it would just be stomach contents and would not be able to alter her own DNA.
