I just learned about this from my hair dresser, Ann Marie, yesterday. Your straightener may not be good, becuase of the ceramic plates. The Paul Brown, CHI, and GHD have them, which help your hair. If you use the straightener too much, like two or three times a day, your hair will get ruined no matter what. So, you can use a product, such as a shine or oil one (including heat protectant stuff by Nexxus or Tressame). Just, don't use it on your roots. It may make your hair appear greasy, considering that it already has natural oils from the roots. Also, the straightener will then burn the product, rather than your hair. It will help. Just, don't use your straightener too much. You can ask your hair dresser about it.

Sunsilk winter therapy works really good with my hair. Also letting it air dry will decrease damage. Try setting your straightener on the lowest setting. Less heat less damage.

take fish oil the omega-3 does wonders.

bite the bullet and buy a chi straightener and some good shampoos and leave in conditioners. use the leave in once a week. the cheaper the straightener the more damage that will occur. if buying a 100 dollar straightener is not an option try revlon gold ceramic straighteners with the 1 inch plates.
