Can you remove a mole on a dog with a piece of hair?

My dog has a big mole on his leg and I want to tie a piece of hair around it so it will fall off...I took him to the vet and it is going to cost a large amount of money to do it.

Thread will work as well, just tie around and keep tightening it gradually... but you may still want to make sure it's checked by the vet after it falls off to ensure it is nothing serious.

No you shouldn't remove a mole that way... The vet will remove a skin tag w/ floss, which is like a little floppy piece of skin. But a mole is another thing entirely.. You should let the vet do it if it's a concern.. If it's for looks only and not getting caught on things, then leave it.

Do not do that! That is not good for them. Is it an older dog? older dogs get those growths. But dont remove it with a hair!..Just leave it there cause im sure if you were to do that, it would cause more problems...talk to another vet and get another opinion to get it removed...good luck

Go back to your vet and have him/her remove it if it is a dangerous mole...that is cancerous etc...money should not be an object, unless it is completely outrageous...if you think it is...check different vets for prices to remove. Good Luck

I wouldn't. Your dog would just get irritated by the hair and chew at it. If the mole must to be removed for some reason, i would go to the vet. But you could ask the vet if you could use the hair on it.

No it is not a good idea it can get infected. It can be cancerous.

If you do decide on doing it,do not use a piece of hair instead use dental floss. When it comes off put some fresh triple antibiotic cream on it.Make sure it does not get infected. If it starts getting really red and swollen take it to a vet asap.
