My daughter is 4 months old -Biracial (black/white) Her hair is starting to get very curly and is quite frizzy -(It was straight at birth) Her hair is alot like mine now which is very curly %26amp; coarse(I'm white) - but her father is black and we think it will get curlier soon - are there any ethnic products (safe-organic) out there that you can use on babies her age -her hair still has some straight pieces but is very unruly and wild !! Within 30 minutes after I bathe her and wash her hair -the curls get frizzed up and the straight peices stick out like spikes !!! Any suggestions ?? Thanks

Baby oil. That's my favorite, and what I still use today (my mom is White and my dad is Black and my hair is long and frizzes easily), and I'm 38. NEVER use petroleum jelly, because it eventually dries the hair out. I even know someone who uses virgin olive oil. There is no telling how her hair will be as she gets older right now (you'll get a better indication as she gets older- about 1 years old). Go to a Beauty supply store like Sally's (if there is one in your area), pick out one of their many products for hair management for kids and experiment a little once she is older. Please, no matter how "unruly" her hair gets, don't listen to people who tell you to give her a perm or straighten her hair when she is about 4 or 5. It gets you stuck in a routine that very well may be unnecessary and costly, when all you need to do is brush and comb it regularly. It can be time consuming (my mom struggled with my hair after each washing for 2-3 hours to get it under control. If you ever experience that, turn to a good movie and try not to hit her with the brush :). By the way, I know some people look down on interracial unions, but as a child of one, whose parents are still together after 40 years, I say forget any fool that judges you, your husband, or your children, and God bless you for adding another beautiful bi-racial person into this world! Good luck and much love.

As you probably already know, all black or bi-racial people do not share the same hair type. If I were you I'd ask a hairstylist the best way to care for your babies hair. Preferably a black stylist. We just know our hair a lot better. Report It

Sorry, have 300 char limit so cannot detail but petroleum products (petro. jelly, min./baby oil, hair grease) %26amp; others leave hair worse than before. For when older, olive oil (reg is fine) in squirt bottle to scalp best. For babies:

my niece is half korean half australian her hair is very very thick like her mums but curly like her dads, it gets out of control. The other day i put some sleek and shine smoothing serum made by garnier fructis in her hair and it made it so smooth and managable !! even an hour after i done her hair it was still soft and tidy, it's not an organic product, but it does not say anything about not for use on babies or children. Hope that was helpful ~!
