Hey!
Everybody is going for that look of loose curly locks along with some straight pieces of hair...
How do I get that look without my hair looking ratty?
Hot rollers don't do anything for me, I have put them in and my hair just goes limp when I take out the hot rollers...I have also noticed that hot rollers can make your hair kinda frizzy... I have a spiral perm in my hair but it has grown out about an inch so I straighten it with a flat iron (looks nearly identical to my avatar).
am I possibly using hot rollers that are too big and that is why my hair isn't taking? which brand and size hair rollers do you prefer? This is my routine (that fails)..
1-wash my hair
2-put in leave in conditioner/ mousse
3-blow dry
4-flat iron
5-hot rollers
6-and I end up with derranged hair....help!
when I take out the hot rollers I end up with flat strands with a little flip at the very end..urgh!
Curly and Straight hair???
Use a wide barrel curling iron. 1.5-2 inches would be best. Instead of clipping the hair into the little clippy part and then rolling the curling iron (this will give the "Shirley Temple" look), take the strand of hair, and wrap IT around the curling iron (start with wrapping the root, and keep the end in your fingers at all times or else it won't stay wrapped around the iron). Hold in place for 10-45 seconds, depending on how your hair holds (I would start off with 20 seconds, and if it falls out, try 30, then 45 as a last resort). When you've done this to the desired amount of pieces, flip your head over and shake out your hair with your fingers. This will give that tussled look that's very popular right now! Good luck!!!!
EDIT:
In other words, don't do this: http://hair.lovetoknow.com/images/8/8d/C... or this:

You don't use the clip at all -- part the hair into like a 1 inch piece and wrap the HAIR around the CURLING IRON.
If all this does not work and your hair STILL loses the curl, try spraying hairspray (a very small amount, a quick mist from 1 foot away) on the piece right before you curl it, and then follow the directions above. Do it immediately though, or else the hair will stiffen too much to curl. Again, good luck and I hope this works out for you!
Curly and Straight hair???
Use a large ceramic curling iron with a heat protectant curling moose.
Hot rollers do not work.
Curly and Straight hair???
I love that look.
Try putting it a frizz protection spray or cream on towel dried hair, then take two inch sections and leave about and inch or two out on the ends, curl it around your finger and bobby pin it in place on your head. Do that all around or for as many curls as your wish, lightly spray with hairspray or curl spray and leave to air dry or blow dry. Undo the bobby pins and run your fingers through your hair to get that tousled look. Try straightening just the roots and about 2 or 3 inches down to avoid prom curls and mix up the look, but tousled roots are sexy! Good luck!
Curly and Straight hair???
u should wash, towel dry, leave in conditioner put in roolers and allow to dry,i prefer old fasioned dryers/salon.Blow dryers are too harsh.when your hair is dry remove rollers and u will have beautiful curls then u can begin your styling.
